Memorial Day Recap

What a nice, long weekend we had at our house!

We had a wonderful time yesterday spent over at my father in law's house.

It was a bit different this year considering my sweet momma in law was out of town to Washington.

So instead of the usual big family gathering...

it was just the 3 of us....hubs, his dad, and me.

We spent a lot of time in this.....

and made lots of this!

But throughout it all....

we remembered the real reason we were able to do this.

Thank you to all the men and women who have fought and are still fighting for our freedom!

• I absolutely love having my brows done. I find having them plucked and waxed to be

so very relaxing. I even have my honey do this on last minute situations.

• When it comes to eating pizza...I eat mine in a very weird way. It involves my fork, 

and eating every bit of the topping off first...
the dough with a little bit of sauce is the best part.

• A little bit of history in the book of Liz...I was engaged to be married to my

preteen and high school boyfriend of 8 years. Yup. I said preteen. We dated went out
{where I don't know...considering we both couldn't drive}
since I was 12...on and off till I was about 20. I called it off because I knew it wasn't right.
We both didn't know anything other than him and I....always together.
Thank you, Lord for unanswered prayers.

Loving on some Target!

Since my hubs locked me out of our bathroom...

I thought I would do a quick post before leaving the house

for our Memorial Day festivities.

Yesterday I made a trip to Target for a shower curtain and to

look for a chair that my hub's wanted.

Found the shower curtain but not a chair.

While there...I realized just how much I love Target.

And through the realization of my love..

I started snapping away pictures for documentation.

{okay, that sounds....weird?}

I loveeee these pencils...

The prints on them?

You can tell I am an bloggaholic because the

package design so reminded me of a template design.

We're always, always, always needing pins to close things with

around the house...

perfect.

Love these, but I hate they didn't have my size.

I love this print...I would hang it in a bedroom

or even in a bathroom

Love these colors on these place mats.

I'm thinking the gray and yellow is my favorite.

And these coffee cups?

So lovely.

Except we aren't faithful coffee drinkers.

Wavy Gone not so Good....

I really can't believe I'm posting these pictures on here...

but I figured what the heck...

it's the real deal.

Facial expressions and all....it's moi.

I tried one of the tricks Red Book gave for Air Drying your hair...

and I don't think I'm doing something right.

I've tried mousse...

I've tried Aveda's Be Curly...

and nothing's worked.

So until then....

I think I'll stick to straightening it with my

flat iron for now.

Getting to Know You

 

1. would you rather go on a picnic or to a bbq?

I love picnics if it involves picnic tables. I'm not a fan of sitting on a blanket on the ground. Not too comfy.

 

2. would you rather go bra-less or panty-less?

Gonna say neither.  

3. would you rather go on a $5000 shopping spree at your favorite store or go on a $5000 vacation?

I could use both right about now. I would say the shopping spree because we could use a new bedroom suite and mattress.

4. would you rather eat escargot or sauteed crickets?

Gross. I'm with Keely...crickets would have to have a ton of butter and garlic so I couldn't taste the actual cricket. {gag} 

5. would you rather go on survivor or the amazing race?

I think Amazing Race...because I know Survivor would involve eating things like crickets...

6. would you rather be hot or cold?

Cold. I get nauseous with headaches when I'm hot. 

7. would you rather go to the beach or lake?

Definitely the beach.

8. would you rather not shave your legs for a month in the summer or your armpits?

Oh goodness...my legs. Not shaving your armpits is just plain nasty.

My Saturday Morning Scene...

This morning the hubs and I went and got pedicures.

I love that I don't have to force him to go with me.

He loves them.

Besides...it's just one more thing he does for  

better hygiene.

 I won't complain about that!

 

And no...he didn't get polish.

Apparently...I'm the girl who needs two fans 

and two cups at her station at work.

This girl needs air.

I'm very, very happy the tree I planted in our backyard is budding...

I love her.

Anyways.

I tried a new recipe tonight...

and it ended up pretty good.

I was surprised because when I mixed up the mayo
{don't gag..it's a vital part, I think?}

and the Ranch Dressing powder, I about died at how it smelled.

{Recipe to come later along with the other one I said I would post}

 I wish I would have taken a picture so my hubs could have

asked, "why are you taking a picture of your dinner?".

Last night I purchased my first blog template package.

And I'm excited!

It should be done by this weekend!

Let me just say I love her and her designs!

{We are such kindred spirits...}

The hubs and I have recently become Blue Bell junkies. Well, recently as in

several months ago. I swore to myself I would never pay that much for ice cream,

but seriously...we tasted it, and there's no going back for us.

Every time I see this hat of my husbands..I can't help but smile.

For one, it brings a ton of memories from our honeymoon
{that's when he got it},

and two...it's a freakin' Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. trucker hat.

Let me just say he looks hot in it...

that's all that matters, right?

I am still in love with the name Kennedy for a little girl.

However, the hubs is not.

I'm still pushing for it.

I don't know why considering I'm not even pregnant, or trying

to get pregnant...but one needs to be prepared, right??

This week is Psych Week on Discovery Health.

Shows like My Strange Addiction is on everyday...and I love it!

Tonight...a girl was addicted to eating chalk and cigarette ashes.

No joke.

The other girl was addicted to taking laxatives...

like 150 laxatives a day.

It's sad...and I feel bad saying I love that stuff...
but it's just so interesting to me.

Okay...I'll stop rambling now.

Miscellany Monday

 

1. Mornings.  This is what it looks like when I'm being woken up. Buck jumping sky high

on the bed and Kaci going for his ankle 

{do dogs even have ankles? Anyways. You get the point}

2. Sweet pictures. My sister sent me this picture in a text today. It's
my mom and I at my Nana's house. I had to of been like 6 or 7 here.
And I hate I'm blinking. 

3. I heart this man. Even though you can't really see his face,

I took it and saved it. 

3. Coach purses are worth crying over...especially if they 

get chewed on. I'm surprised I never mentioned this before. About a month ago, Buck

decided he wanted to use my Coach purse as a chew toy. I'm seriously surprised he's still running

around...let alone walking.

4. Looks heavenly. Sitting at the red light in front of Kroger's,

I snapped this picture of the sky. It was so gorgeous.

Getting to Know You Sunday!

   {so I couldn't find the real GTKY button on mycomputer...so I snagged this one off her page}

1. what's your favorite rainy day activity?

I love getting everything done that needs to be done when the weather sucks outside. But if laundry is done and house is clean...I love watching movies with my love snuggling up on the couch! 

2. what time do you go to bed?

If I have to get up for work the next day, I like to be in the bed no later than 10...and sad to say on the weekends if we're up...10 as well. I'm a creature of habit. 

 

3. how many magazines do you subscribe to?

I have 1 subscription and that's to Runner's World. I have thought about canceling it though. I want to subscribe to Red Book and Southern Home & Gardens next!

4. did you sell all your belongings because you thought the world was ending yesterday?

Lord no.

5. what's your beauty obsession?

I have to have a good cleanser and moisturizer. Gotta prep the canvas or the paint won't matter!

6. if you could only wear one designer/brand for the rest of your life...what would it be?

Oh goodness...I'm with Rebekah on this one. Anthropologie would be a must!

7. what's your summer must have?

Cute dresses and sandals/flip flops!

8. do you make weekly dinner menus?
No and that's something I know would make my life easier, but I do know I would end up changing it the day or night of...which would totally defeat the purpose of planning.

I'm guessing a bird decided to take full advantage of what was 

placed there.

A Prized Posession

This afternoon I came across something that was tucked away in the closet of our guest bedroom.

It's something that I hold more valuable than anything else we have in this house.

And when I saw it today, 

I couldn't help but smile at the thought of having it hung on a wall one day.

My mom made this quilt for the church nursery she worked in for so many years.

After she passed away, it was handed down to me for when I have babies of my own.

And to think it matches our extra room

{which was the nursery with the previous owners-our friends} 

perfectly.

To be Quite Honest...

...the more I sign on to my blog and see how my followers have dwindled...

the more it pisses me off the whole situation with my last blog.

And to make it more frustrating, when I sign on to my original blog with the original URL...

it's fine. Not one "suspicious threat" from Norton Antivirus pops up.

For a slight, itty bitty second I thought about changing back to the original blog...

but the thought of doing everything over again gives me a headache.

I would really love to tell a white lie to y'all and say that the number of followers really does not phase me.

I love knowing that people are interested in my life, and in what I write...

so a huge thank you to those that have come on over and followed me.

That seriously makes me smile.

Not so Lovely Thursday...

What a night I had last night...or should I say morning.

Around 2 I got up and ran to the toilet where I started throwing up what seemed like every couple hours.

From then on till about 11 this morning...throwing up and "other stuff" starting happening.

As of right now, I am feeling a lot better {and nope, not pregnant}...

but as of today I have determined that this stuff is known as miracle medicine in my book.

I thought it might be best if I stayed home today...I'm sure no one would want this mess.

So my day has consisted of staying on the couch watching Netflix and Saved by the Bell reruns with these little fur babies....

I mentioned yesterday in my last post that we found straw all in our grill on the back deck. A few people came up with a theory that maybe it's birds building a nest.

We aren't ruling that out, but it does seem a bit odd for a bird to spread it out so neatly...and so deep in to the grill.

What a nest!

Until then, the hubs and I {and a few neighbors} are keeping an eye out for anything strange going on

around our house.

We do have a visitor hanging out in our back yard.

This little turtle doesn't know this, but as soon as my hubs gets home....he will be promptly removed from his cozy little bed he's made in our monkey grass.

For the time being...Buck and Kaci will be driving me crazy with their barking.

Because I'm a Rambler

• Tonight I made my Aunt Brenda's Chicken and Rice recipe. It is seriously so delicious and so easy. My hubs and his dad loved it. I paired it with broccoli {big surprise}, rolls, and apple sauce. 

• Last Monday my family drove to Kentucky to celebrate my sister's graduation from college.

 I'm seriously so proud of her. I know she will do amazing where ever she ends up working.

• This evening my hubby opened our grill up to look at something, and found a mess full of hay and straw that was put in it by someone. It's very unnerving to think that someone we don't know was on our back deck property. I'm thinking an alarm system may be coming soon.

• Yesterday I went to Goodwill since it seemed like ages since I had been in there. I scored big time...and I'm in love!!

I bought it for $49 bucks!

Whoever had it painted it black because there's a couple

spots of bronze that was missed.

Either way, I love it..and can't decide if I want to change the black

or keep it.

{I must admit that I never, ever pay that much for something

there, but I knew that I could never find this size mirror anywhere for 

that cheap!}
