I Hate You, Acrylic....

You always come across as so nice and wonderful....

looking so pretty....

and making my hands look amazing.

But over time...

you end up doing my precious nails bodily harm...

And I just cannot tolerate that abuse any longer.

I'm breaking up with you, Acrylic...

and in the meantime {as in tonight}...I will my fingers will be vegging out in 100% Acetone...

to get your nasty garbage off of my nails.

The months ahead will be hard...as I drive by my salon knowing you, Acrylic is sitting in there.

I need this, Acrylic.

I need this separation.

{sigh}

As a teenager, I always wanted to get fake nails and my mom would never let me. It used to make me SO mad, but I know that they're so rough on your nails and now I'm thankful :)

It took me a while to tear myself away, but I'm now acrylic free! My nails are now much stronger! Do it girl!

Oh, I used to lurve acrylics. But, they did a number on my nails, too! Ouch. Hope your soak is going well. I never had the patience for it!

When I worked in banking and doing makeup it was almost mandatory to have acrylics. They were easy, looked great and blah blah blah.

Last year I realized how damaged my nails had gotten. They were so think I would bend them by bumping my finger into something. So I took them off and have been acrylic free since November. Its hard, but I've gotten into painting my nails on a weekly basis and feel that they look better this way :-)

Good luck!

You should try gel nails!! I loove them!! My nails actually remain healthy underneath them, still grow properly and even when they come off, my nail bed is not destroyed, I can just go on!!

I love this post...because it is so true! :) I love the way you wrote it! So adorable! Have you tried the Gel nails? I tried those and they are a lot easier on your nails and look just like acrylics, if not better! When you are ready to get them off you just soak them in acetone and they literally dissolve off of your fingers causing much less damage! :)

Loving your blog!

@Breanna- thank you so much for stopping by! I have heard about those, and may give them a try. For right now though, I may just let my nails breath and get stronger. Hope you have a lovely day! :)
