My Year...Facebook Status Style

Since Thursday afternoon,
DayQuil and now Mucinex have become my drug of choice.

I have some sort of sinus cold and congestion thing going on,
and so the hubs and I have had a pretty low key New Year's Eve
here at home...by ourselves.

I have managed to take a few pictures, but I'll save those for another post.

Until then, I'll share this.
It's a whole slew of status' I shared throughout 2011.
And come to think of it, I will even share 2010.

Happy New Year's, friends!

Christmas Cheer...in Pictures.

In some ways this year, Christmas felt low key and not super
jam packed as it has in the past.

Saturday the hubs and I did some celebrating at my parents house
with games, and delicious food...

..while in the evening we had almost a dozen family members
retreat back to our house for some good ol' deep fried turkey
and some Cracker Barrel sides. :)

I just love this picture.
Laughter is always what happens when we all get together,
and this is proof.

If anyone has never tried chocolate gravy,
it's a must.
So very easy and so addicting.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Some Texas Love!

I'm so behind on my posts,
so please bare with me.

A few weeks ago I got my package from Janna...
my partner in a Ornament Exchange we participated in of Jess's.
It was so much fun, and Janna spoiled the day lights out of me!

These are just a handful of what she sent me.

 My Texas cowboy!

Along with these I got an adorable snowman ornament, a cute Wintery scene hand towel,
and some snowman face tongs. So so cute!
Every time I see them, I think of Janna!
Thank you, sweet girl!
Now head on over there and check these two ladies out!

Happy Sunday, peeps!

Because I Think She's Cute...

...I take an over abundance of pictures.

Countless ones of her sleeping...
standing...
sitting...
and playing.

And I try to take some of her brother, Buck...
but he rarely will sit still long enough for me to snap a picture.

So bare with me, and stick around...
because I am that crazy dog momma.

Friday Randoms

  • I picked these treats up a few weeks ago at one of my weekly Target trips, and the puppies have seemed to thoroughly enjoy them...like they know the sound of the package.

  • I love Fridays...especially when Saturday morning consists of not having to wake up and head to work.
  • I need to start my Christmas shopping this weekend. I have to.
  • Speaking of Christmas shopping, I tell myself every time that I am not going to wait till the last minute to start shopping, and what do I do? Wait. Procrastinate.
  • Tonight for dinner I tried something new, and easy. I found it in the frozen section at Publix, and let me just say it was so, so good. I paired it with some rice and broccoli. It burst with flavor, seriously. It's a must try.

  • I think we have a squirrel or a mouse, or heaven forbid mice, in our attic. I woke up this morning about 5:30 hearing this chewing, scratching noise coming from the corner of our ceiling. I could not go back to sleep. I'm praying it doesn't happen again tonight.
  • My hubby turns 29 on Tuesday!
  • I spy with my little eye...Richard!!

  • I'm sleepy. And I commend you if you made it this far reading my boring little post.
 Sleep well my friends!

Three Years Ago...

...pretty much at this very moment..
the hubs and I were sitting at a booth at Cheddar's,
cutting up and laughing with my sister and her hubs, David.
We were officially husband and wife!
And how wonderful it felt to finally be Mrs. Thomas!

{the actual picture from that night in the booth}

I cannot imagine what it would be like not having him
by my side every day..
and to know just how lucky I am to have him as my husband,
that in itself makes me smile.

I love you babe...
to the moon and back
and all the way around the sun!

For the Love of Questionaires...

Oh how I am a sucker for all things random!

And when I see one,
I just can't turn it down.
Strange?
I know.

So sweet Mama Marchand posted this yesterday,
and I decided today would be the day I'd snag it up and do it myself.

1. What's a nickname only your family calls you?
My dad calls me Skidderdoo...
he's called me that since I was little,
and still calls me that from time to time.

2. What's a weird habit of yours?
I have a bad habit of leaving the cabinets open especially
in the kitchen. My hubs hates it, which I don't blame him.
It's something I just cannot seem to break.

3. Do you have any weird phobias?
I just realized I didn't answer this.
I hate electric fences!! I hate getting anywhere near them.

4. What's a secret song you love to blast out and sing along to?
4 Non Blondes- What's Up

5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves?
I'm so glad this was asked.
I have a huge one in the blogging world...
why do bloggers have to change the way they talk when they blog?
Iz and zee...and all these other slang words and sentences you know
you don't really say in the real world. So why on here?

6. What's one of your nervous habits?
Picking at my nails.

7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
The right side....always.

8. What was your first stuffed animals and what was it's name?
A adorable stuffed dog with huge floppy ears I called Brownie.

{this was our first family vacation to Disney World}
My mom has it in the bottom of her Cario cabinet at her house.

9. What's the drink you always order at Starbucks?
I love the Carmel Frap when I'm feeling coffee....
but then I love the Black tea with Lemonade as well.

10. What's the beauty rule you PREACH...but never actually practice?
Don't go to bed with your make-up on.
I'm horrible at remembering to wash my mascara off.
I know, I know.
Gross.

11. Which way do you face in the shower?
Away.

12. Do you have any weird 'body skills'?
I can dislocate my hip.
A huge regret I'm gonna have when I become 50.

13. What's your favorite comfort food/food that you know is bad,
but you love to eat it anyways?
I love pretzels and chunky Blue Cheese dressing together...

14. What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?
Gheeze, and Oh really?

15. Time to sleep- what are you wearing?
Do I have to answer??

Hope everyone has a
happy Sunday! :)

Impromptu Leave, Richard and White Lights.

Let's see.
I really have no explanation for my recent impromptu leave of absence
that I took these past couple of weeks.
To be honest with you,
I just have nothing worth sharing.
Ever feel like that?
So I'm going to jump around a bit.
I'm posting some of the most random pictures...
or really most random tidbits of my life because
well, that's all I got.

During my leave of absence,
Thanksgiving happened.
And as much as I would like to say I snapped some great pictures,
I didn't.
And that stinks.

I did however master my goal of making deviled eggs.
I'm the girl who made boiling an egg a hard task.
But I did it, and they turned out yummo.

The hubs and I adopted a new member into the family.
Meet Richard.
He's our little elf that has made his way into several different spots of
our home and vehicles.

Needless to say he's brought some smiles and giggles to our faces.
And that seems worth it.

Nashville had some pretty strange weather this past weekend.
It teased us with temps in the low to mid 70's with the best breeze ever.
And now?
There's a chance of snow.
Figures.

I put up our Christmas tree over the weekend,
and if I could I'd leave it up year round.
I love the white lights.
I love the white lights so much I put them in our ficus tree
and plan on leaving those up all the time.
I just like the look of it.

I smile every time I see this ornament.

2008...how the years have flown.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening!

Christmas Lights with my Family

Yesterday afternoon my sister, Amber and niece, Olivia arrived into town
from Atlanta to stay for a few days.

The event for the evening was to take Olivia to see the
light show in Nashville near the Opryland Hotel.

We grabbed a bite at Five Guys and hopped in the Trail Blazier
to make our way to the light show.

These pictures are my favorite of little Miss Blondie.
She has the cutest personality.

Momma and Daughter..
I love these two!

There was bags and bags of various flavored Kettle corn and popcorn.
My dad snatched up just enough for his ride home,
for is evening at the house...
and one while he was in the bed.
Needless to say he loves his Kettle Corn.

And courtesy of my sister's IPhone..
the life size Nativity scene at Opryland Hotel was my favorite.
It was beautiful, and this picture only shows a small portion
of the Nativity Scene.

Last night definitely has me
antsy for the Christmas season!

A Few Happenin's

I took a break.

I got a little burnt out in the blogging world.
I was feeling a little frumpy, and just not with it.

But I'm back...
and here to show you a few little happenin's
in my little world.
{not that any of it is too exciting...well, except for one}

This right here has become my addiction.
It has sucked me in, and drawn me to the point that I make
it my morning conversation with my co-workers.
Callie and Erica?
Wowzers.
And Ava?

And of course my hubby is full force into the new Call of Duty game.
Headset and all.
Side note: I'm thinking I need to do
something with my crosses.
They look a little cluttered.

He's so adorable.

I posted this on my computer at work.
Through all the stresses of life, I am so blessed.
I need to remember to love and appreciate the people and things around
me so much more.

And this is what I'm excited about!
This weekend my sister Amber and her little girl Olivia
are coming to town!
Notice the fabulous hi-lites on my work calendar?

...and now I'm off to count some sheep!

Good night friends!

My Over Night Stay

Last night I snatched up the opportunity to stay with my hubs
at one of the most beautiful hotels in Nashville...

The one and only Opryland Hotel.

If you are ever in Nashville, it's definitely a must see..
especially during this time of year.
The crews start decorating for the Christmas season,
and let me just say it's spectacular with all of the Christmas lights.

Because I was running late,
I was unable to attend the dinner..
so I hung out in the room.

I soaked in a hot bubble bath...
and vegged out on this amazing King size bed.

I thought the little DnD sign was the cutest little thing.
Only in Nashville would it be in a guitar shape.

And seriously?
When you are starving and the room service menu is plastered
on and in every nook and cranny,
you can only feel as if your insides are going to eat themselves.
No joke.

..and not having my wallet and any source of money equals
an epic fail on my part.
So the hubs so nicely brought me a McDonald's salad with wilted lettuce
and cold fries for dinner.
{thought that counts, and it killed hunger}
I didn't tell him though.

Thankfully,
my wallet remained safe in sound in the floor board of my car.

Thank you, Lord.

My Art Journal

Last night I began my very own art journal.

It's crazy to me to think I have never once mentioned on here
just how much I love anything art related.

A little back ground story.
{Before I entered the banking world,
I spontaneously almost went to a local art school here in Nashville.
The criteria and the cost of the school was something that I was not
definite about so I declined, and never went through with it.}

My grandfather is an amazing artist.
My dad has some pretty cool drawing skills,
and my brother and sister have some awesome talent with music.
I'm guessing we have art blood running through us.

While browsing online last night, I found a blog that I found inspiring.
I immediately bookmarked it because I knew it would be a site
I would continuously come back to every day.

Art Journal Every Day
via

I absolutely love Julie's style...
the way she expresses herself through her pictures and her artwork.
I love that she says
"put 10 minutes aside a day just to nourish your creative style every day...
you don't even have to like it or finish it..."

It's exactly what I needed to get back in to what I love to do.
And that's draw.
And doodle...
and create.

Last night I gathered all my art supplies...
and laid on the floor in the office.
I turned on some relaxing music,
and let the creative juices flow.

...and this sweet girl just watched.

Four Happy Thoughts

  1. Rain is a good thing.
{and not because Luke Bryan says so}
This morning when I was on my way to work,
it was so obvious we were about to get some nasty weather.
And we did.
Nothing too bad though.

2. Comfort food.
I realized tonight just how much I like hot soup in a coffee mug.
Why? I have no clue.

3. Random findings.
When looking for Buck's allergy medicine,
I found two things of Mary Kay lip gloss and lipstick.
It excited me, but then I realized just how much I love Avon more.
They both seemed waxy to me.

4. Wednesday night service.
Last night's message was one of those I felt as if the Pastor spoke on it
just for me..like he was speaking to me and only me.
It was on being offended and how to handle situations when people offend you.
I loved Proverbs 18:19.

"An offended friend is harder to win back than a fortified city.
Arguments separate friends like a gate locked with bars."

And to me that goes with anyone.
Within a marriage, parents and children...friends.
I really want to post more on this...and I think I might.

Over look that messy handwriting..
blah.

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday...
Thank goodness the weekend is near!
