Exciting News

My older brother, Michael Beak (he will always be Michael to me) and his sweet wife, Georgia just released their very first music CD for their band, Faux Sho.

I got my little yellow package in my mailbox yesterday with my copies of it.

I am so proud of them and the dreams they are making a reality.

Here is their music video for "Not Forgotten".

My brother is the one on drums and Georgia is singing.

Hope you enjoy!

I Already Know...

...that it's a little too soon to be oohing and awing over infant and toddler's baby clothing...but seriously??

How in the world can one resist?

I don't know how in the world I began browsing these various items of  Ohio State clothing, but they are so freakin' adorable.

And this one??? Oh my goodness....how precious is this pillow case dress from PJQuilt's Etsy shop??!

Okay, I'll stop now. You get the picture. Now watch we have all boys.

Gearing Up and Getting Ready

Several weekends ago when the hubs and I traveled to Memphis, Bridget totally got me pumped up and excited to start my running again full force.

There's nothing like having positive affirmation to get you wanting to do something.

While we were visiting, Bridget (being new to a Blackberry) was in search of a running app that she could take on her runs and act as a GPS that calculated her miles, time, etc.

I decided that was something I myself needed, especially if I was going to set a goal and work towards it.

That was when I found a free app on my Blackberry called Endomondo.

From playing around with it, it seems perfect for what I need.

It keeps record of my Duration, Distance and Speed, along with an Audio coach if needed, and that's just a few things this application can do.

Tomorrow, my co-worker and I are gonna start after work...and I'm sure this will come in handy.

Weekend Recap

Our weekend was fun but a busy one!

The hubs and I headed to Christie and Tina's house as soon as I got off work on Saturday.

The festivity was what we call The Turkey Bowl and Bonfire...the first year to a brand new tradition.

Nashville's weather was low 50's during the day, with 30's at sunset.....perfect weather for some flag football and bonfire.

As you can see the hubs was the fire master with the bonfire. He did a great job starting it and keeping it going...and even did a better job fixing me smores all evening..(hey I only had 2!)

We had a marvelous time, and enjoyed seeing what Christie and Tina had done to their newly renovated home. It looks amazing!

As of today, I woke up late (yes, I needed my sleep), and tackled the cleaning of the house with the hub's help.

I still don't know how two people can make such a mess...but in my defense, I will say it was because the hubby was home on vacation all week. Wink.

I did get our Christmas decor out...and we I decided on what was gonna be our Christmas tree this year.

Okay, so it's not your typical Christmas tree...and it doesn't have any ornaments on it either (just yet). But it's definitely using what we have, and saving money. I love the way it looks with white lights on it so much, that I'm gonna leave them on there year round. I think it looks nice, especially when every other lights turned off.

Now I need to go read some more of my book for Book Club I'm hosting at my house this Friday night. I picked Jewell by Bret Lott. I will definitely be doing a Recap on this one. It has been by far the deepest read I have read so far. I should have known since it was in Oprah's Book Club.

Hope everyone has a great Monday...the hubs has to go back to work tomorrow! Ha!

Thanksgiving 2010

The hubs and I had a fun Thanksgiving day!

We started the day off by heading over to my parents for a late Thanksgiving lunch.

The food was delicious and of course we had plenty and then some.

My sweet hubs

My sister and I

And then ended the day by heading to hub's side of the family for dinner and dessert. I wish I would have pulled the camera out for some picture taking then, but didn't really think about it.

Here's to a day filled with memories and laughter....and I'm thankful for every bit.

I Go Back

Earlier this evening I came across my very first pair of running shoes.

They were with me through the rain, the mud, the cold..

I know you are probably thinking they are from middle school or when I was a freshmen in high school...

But no, it wasn't that long ago when I formed a love/hate relationship with running.

I loved the itch I had when I needed to go run. I loved how I felt after wards and knowing I was doing something to stay in shape.

There's not a day that a goes by that I don't think about starting it up again. What I would give to be able to go back to how I felt when I was physically active, and felt good about myself.

I remember when this picture was taken.

My bestie, Denise also known as my beloved running partner went through this phase with me from day 1.

The beginning when I couldn't make it several feet without wanting to collapse on the pavement and give up.

This picture says it all. 100 degree heat, in the middle of summer...soaking wet sports bra, with my unforgettable headband.

I know it may not be tomorrow, or even next year...but I will one day get hold of myself and start back up again.

I will, I will, I will.

I Find Myself Laughing...

The hubs recently bought himself the new Call of Duty: Black Ops game. He's a huge fan, and loves playing it live with some of his buddies.

A lot of wives hate when their hubs play because they play it for hours on end.

Luckily, mine doesn't. But when he does, I can't help but laugh to myself some of the things he says.

I have started taking note.

Headset and all. Poor Kaci's wondering what in the world.....

  • "I find it real funny how every time I turn around there's someone magically behind me."
  • "I shoot you, you live...you shoot me, I die. Hmm."
  • "Oh magic....out of no where....oh magic again...Oh how I love magic."
  •  "Oh-h-h-h-h.....he he he he."
  • "And of course mine doesn't blow up..."
  • "Oh, I guess that guy can shoot through walls too...amazing."
Oh the men and their toys....

    A Tuesday Night's Date

Tonight the hubs and I went out on a date.

This date was unlike anything we had ever done before....and I loved it. It was nothing fancy, or anything like that, it was just fun.

It was the kind of date where you laugh, you smile...and everything goes right.

It involved two places...Wal Mart and Arby's where we bought a couple Jr. Roast Beef sandwiches. Nothing in this world could have tasted better.

I made the hubs take me to Wal Mart to check out some of the few options we had for a Christmas tree.

I wanted nothing fancy, or expensive...just something to have that lit up. I love Christmas, and I love Christmas lights. The more the better.

The hubs let me pick out what I wanted, so I did. I picked an $18 3' table tree that I really didn't like, and a bright red Christmas stocking for Buck.

When we got to the hardware section I realized I really didn't want the darn table tree. I didn't feel like buying a tree just to have a tree.

The hubs once again laughed at me for once begging him to let me buy a tree, only in turn to not want one.

Leave it to Liz as I say.

Instead I think I'm gonna decorate our dear Lola, and make her festive and pretty. In case you're wondering who and what Lola is...she's a plant, a very tall looking plant that I brought home from work to give a little tender lovin' care.

I'm gonna try and be economically creative this year instead of buying just to buy. Besides I got plenty of Christmas decor to go around.

    I'll post pics soon!

    My Sunday Finding

The weather here in Tennessee is absolutely breathtaking today.

The sun is shining against a deep blue sky with the puffiest white clouds.

Thinking I would let our fresh plants sit on our deck to eat up some sunshine, I noticed this....

Our little fur brats decided to get fearless with my plant.

    B is for Bonfire

Tonight the hubs and I made our way over to Jimmy and Michelle's house for a bonfire.

If there is one thing that I do love about the cold weather, it is the smoky, hot bonfires that usually someone in our group of friends puts on.

The weather was absolutely perfect tonight. Chilly enough for a fire, but not uncomfortable enough for blankets and gloves.

Here are some pictures from tonight!

I had to snag a picture with this little girl, although I hate it of me. My face looks huge and swollen. Oh well. It's precious of Kylie.

Michelle and I had a time trying to get the fire going before the men got there, but it eventually got going thanks to an old Pizza box that apparently had oil and grease still on it. It obviously did the trick!

We have been accumulating junk mail for the longest time (we need to break down and buy a shredder). As you can see that all changed tonight. We burned it!

Now I'm home and all cozied up wishing I had more apple cider!

    Pour your Heart Out

I don't know why, but I haven't done one of these "Pour your Heart out" postings in a while. Lord knows I probably need to on a regular basis. (Oh and click on the link for info from the fabulous Things I Can't Say to play along!)

Last night the hubs and I went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1 at the theatre (man that's a long title!).

I'm not a huge fan of them. Don't get me wrong, they're good, but if I never saw them I wouldn't be crying. I only watch them because the hubs loves them, and he wanted me to go with him.

It ended up being a cheap date, because we got them at Senior price which was 12 bucks for 2 tickets. I know my hair was pulled back in a cute little library bun, but I didn't realize I'd be pushing senior status.

    No offence taken.

The hubs and I don't have kids. We don't know what it's like not to be able to go out on a date because of not having a babysitter, so when I vent, I'm venting without having any idea of what it's like on the other side of the fence.

But seriously? When you have a 3 year old who is banging their plastic trucks and pulling at your chair, be a parent and take some action. I don't think your kid is cute when he's doing this, or when he's disrupting the whole theatre talking and crying.

    It kills me.

My poor hubs dealt with this the whole evening without saying a word, which I was highly surprised at. He normally would say something politely but straight to the point.

Maybe the young girl at the ticket stand knew we'd be dealing with a 3 year old and that's why she gave us a discounted price.

    Doubt it.

    'Round Here

This afternoon as I walked the aisles of Kroger....I experienced an awkward moment.

It was the moment where I was thought to be someone else.

Instead of possibly causing embarrassment to the young man, I acted as if I was "Courtney", and he saw my mom, "Ginger" at the CD shop.

When the young man told me this, I know I had a look of confusion on my face, but all I could say was, "Oh you did....? Well, have a good rest of the day." What the heck?

I laugh looking back at the experience, but then again...nothing surprises me in the grocery store anymore.

When I got home...I cleaned with this new cleaning spray that makes me happy. Yea, you know you're an adult when a lemon scent disinfectant makes you smile.

And then, once the hubby got home...I got lucky.

This hot hunk cooked me dinner. The proof is in the picture. You know you're in love when you think a picture like this looks hot.

    I love this man. Period.

And you ask what we had? Sloppy Joe's. Slap a piece of Velveeta Sliced Cheese on it, and it's pretty darn good. Oh and side note: We tried Sara Lee's Golden Potato Buns...and they are de-licious!

Now as I sit here watching the hubs play Black Ops in his big pink chair...I get to deal with these faces...

I truly love my life and my little family.

    Wednesday's Thoughts

I had a post in mind for tonight that actually had some pictures of the hubs and I in the present time (like as in tonight)...but the hubs decided he was "pictured out". Turd.

Today I was really tired. Maybe it's the weather. Maybe it's because I'm not sleeping good at night. Or maybe I'm just a tired person, and my body always needs rest. Who knows.

A bunch of ladies I know just found out they are pregnant, have been pregnant, or are having babies. It's so crazy how life is. Many of these ladies I went to Middle school and High school with or better yet, grew up with and have kept in contact with one another through the infamous Face Book.

I am officially getting gray hairs...and I hate it. I'd like to think it's where my hair is lighter underneath this dark color I have going on, but I dunno...I think it's just me getting older.

I am still wondering where our Christmas tree is going to go this year. I'll have something figured out because I cannot go with out having a tree up. I love this Holiday too much.

Speaking of Christmas trees, I'm thinking a pencil tree would work out great. Mom, where'd you get yours again??

Tomorrow is my short day at work, and I am ever so thankful for it. It gives me time to clean the house during the day before the hubs gets home from work. So basically I'm not spending my entire evening cleaning when I'd much rather spend it being lazy with him.

I was going to fix some White Chicken Chili and some cornbread for tonight's dinner but opted for cereal a quicker meal instead. I'm saving the chili for tomorrow night.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening!!

    This evening when leaving work....

    I came across this....

Either there's one sad little girl tonight or I'm just set for bad luck....

    Our Weekend in Memphis

This weekend the hubs and I took a much needed weekend get a way trip to Memphis to visit our friends, Dale and Bridget.

The hubs and Dale has been friends for just about forever, 15+ years to be exact. They go way back.

I really enjoyed the weekend because this was the first time I really got to know Bridget, Dale's wife. They are one of the sweetest couples we know, and it only makes me wish even more that we lived closer to each other.

Our first night after eating dinner at Rafferty's (they have the best salads!), we came home and did this:

It was perfect after a long day at work and a long drive.

Saturday we woke up to a dreary, rainy day but that didn't stop us from having a wonderful time.

We ate at a popular restaurant in Memphis called The Blue Plate Cafe.

    Image from Yelp
This is what the portions at this place look like, and that's not even including the biscuits and gravy you receive as well. Every bit was absolutely delicious and I am sure we will be returning on our next visit to Memphis. I even saw an old friend who I hadn't seen in years. It was great to get a chance to catch up, even if it was just a few moments.

We then had a day's worth of touring the streets of Memphis via vehicle since the weather was a little wet and dreary.

We were going to take a tour of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital but unfortunately the hospital only gives tours Monday - Friday at the request of an appointment.

We instead toured the Danny Thomas- Alsac Pavilion that is right next to the Hospital. What a life that man led, and I was so happy I got a chance to learn about it.

    Danny Thomas- Alsac Pavilion

A beautiful carving within the Chapel at the Pavilion
    St, Jude
Finally when the rain let up, we were able to walk around on these beautiful brick streets of Memphis.

However, we did have an 1.5 hours till we could see the Peabody ducks...so we decided to head to The Flying Saucer.

It's a fun little bar with a cool atmosphere. Unfortunately, I left my ID in the car so I couldn't get a drink. (Strange enough...I have gathered a taste for beer! Crazy, crazy...because for the longest time I thought it was disgusting, but now I love it!)

    Bridget and Dale.
    The hubs and I
After wards, we headed to the Peabody Hotel. This hotel is not only beautiful but is 70+ years in age.

Apparently, one of the main reason's this hotel is so big with the tourist is for the Duck show. Yes, these ducks are treated like Royalty...walking the red carpet, going up an elevator to retreat to their duck rooms. I'm not lying....proof is in the pictures.

These ducks swim in this fountain all day up until 5PM when they walk the carpet.
    One by one...there they go.
Cute but note to self: don't play with the settings when picture taking.
And of course, visiting Memphis isn't complete without walking on Beale Street. Let me just say, if you're a people watching kind of person...like me, this is the perfect place to take a moment and just watch the random kinds of people that walk by. It's very amusing to say the least.

I wish I would have caught the name of this store we went in, but it had the most.random.anything.and.everything.type.things. I loved it. You would look at one side and see magnets, then look to the other side and see watermelon china, and then look ahead and see over sized fly swatters.

We had fun with these things...

    I'll take one of these....

and one of these for my hot hubs...
...and of course while walking down Beale Street, I had to get a picture with this guy...

It was such a fun day, but unfortunately the hub's back started hurting pretty bad. Poor thing was in so much pain, but luckily we were able to get a muscle relaxer in him along with some Alleve and he was a new man (for the most part).

This morning we woke up to clear skies and beautiful weather.

I took advantage of the weather by snapping a few pictures with my new camera, which I might add I love, before heading back to Nashville.

Guitar Hero + Morning Coffee :)

    The trees were amazing...
    Lovely back yard

And lovin' on Sweet Miss Lucy made me miss my puppies even more!

Needless to say, we had a great time and are now relaxing before the new work week!
