Happy 100th and Hair Problems.

Summer time bliss in my opinion is being outside in the nice, warm blazing hot sun with the people you love....

....and in my case....a little too much. Because when this girl is outside, it's usually in the pool relaxing holding on to dear life to a float so she's not getting dunked.

With that being said, the chlorine has caused some of my blond ends to turn a shade of green!!!!!!!! Yes, I said it...green!!

I have always been aware of this, that Blonds (whether natural or not) have to be careful when being in water with chlorine, because it will turn the chemicals in your hair this awful color. I thought I was being extra careful when rushing to the shower to wash my hair after taking a dip in the pool. Apparently not.

This evening, after surviving Jillian I might add...one of my besties and I decided to take a walk in the hood with Kaci. While chatting up a storm, she says, "Liz...I hope you don't get mad, but your hair is a shade of green!"

Lo and behold...it's a shade of green! Needless to say, I'm scheduled to see my hair lady next week. Until then, I'm leaning upon the advice given of washing my hair in baking soda.

**And no, it's not the color of Leprechauns and green grass...it's a tint of green at my ends!**

Ps. I can't believe I've posted 100 entries! Happy 100th! : )

Blessings and Book Club

This weekend has been a good one.

But before I get in to that, I must admit I have been in a blogging rut. I have had nothing to talk about that is half interesting to read, let alone type.

But since we have had some things going on around the Thomas household, I feel compelled to share.

For starters, I am so, so blessed....blessed in more areas than one, but this one is working with a great group of people that I do. I recently transferred branches to not only be closer to home, but to make a fresh start for myself. I mentioned this several posts back and I really haven't mentioned it since.

It feels great to be able to go in to work without feeling a huge amount of stress, and negativity on your shoulders. I can honestly say I feel as if I have known each of these people much longer than 2 weeks....

Some other exciting news that I have to share is....

WE HAVE AIR CONDITIONING NOW!!!

(My hubs and his dad finishing up)

We have honestly struggled with the "should we's or should we deal with later's" with this subject of getting a new unit. . We bought the house several months ago, and even then we knew the unit that had been installed in the house was already on it's last leg. Thank the Lord, my husband's father owns a Heating and Air Conditioning business, so we got a super duper deal on it. Now, I don't have to tote around a box fan like I mentioned in a previous post.

And this precious puppy not only loves that she can live in a cold house, but she loves her new pig! Now all we have been hearing today are pig noises, which I know will soon become annoying.

Friday evening we had our Book Club meeting at Rebecca's house. We discussed this months pick of The Shack (for a quick summary of it, click on the title). I must say I am so glad I started reading it, although I won't lie, I still have more chapter's to go. I may even start from Chapter 1.

We had some very good opinions about this book which is one of my favorite things about being in a book club.

Some liked it, some didn't understand it, some even thought it was odd the way the author wrote about the Trinity...in the God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit were described as 3 different people, and some even as female characters. Brandi, one of our members, said she was able to understand it better when thinking of herself as being 1 person, but being a wife, mother, and daughter. She's all the same person, but each of her roles is a different person.

I checked this book out of the library, but I'm thinking I may go ahead and buy it so I'm not racking up anymore of a overdue charge.

Next months pick is The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. I'm looking forward to reading this not only because it's written by my favorite author, but because I have heard so much about the movie and book. I will  definitely update you in the read.

Yesterday we got in touch with a Carnival Cruise line Representative. We all planned on getting our cruise booked, but honestly, we are all still very indecisive on what rooms we want. We're gonna give it a few more days and then meet back up and give it another try. Maybe then, it will be set in stone.

Well, I must start on the laundry and get some cleaning done. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. We're heading to my In-Laws in a few hours for some steak and chicken on the grill....my mouth is watering already!

A Cloud of Funk

While floating in the pool this afternoon, I finally came to the conclusion of why I have felt like I had been in a "funk" for quite some time.

Not that every day I was fighting depression, or not wanting to get out of bed to conquer the world...it wasn't like that at all.

It felt like even on good days however, there still seemed to be a "cloud of funk" that covered my head.

For quite some time now, the hubs and I have not been actively attending church. This was something I thought I would never be able to say. Church was always part of my childhood, growing up in to my teen years, and so forth...until I got married and out on my own.

By saying that, I don't want anyone to think that it was because of the man I married corrupted my ways...or anything like that.

It's just that now I don't have a parent waking me up saying "while living in this house, you will attend church.

It's crazy how when you form a relationship with Christ, it's like forming a relationship with a friend. In order to maintain that friendship, you talk everyday, you spend time with that person...you create memories. When you don't, that relationship falls in the cracks.

I truly believe that is how it is with God. Coming from experience, I see where I have been moodier, I have been so negative about life and everything in life, that even my husband is noticing more and more how much I complain. It's definitely something I want to change, and need to change.

The "B" word was brought up a couple weeks ago. The "B" word as in Babies. This is something that won't be happening very soon, but is eventually going to happen.

I am praying that our kids will be able to grow up attending church, and knowing the importance of being a part of a church home and having a relationship with God.

I am hoping to get that level of friendship back that I had with God. Quiet times, and prayer will be back in my life, and will hopefully lead to finding a permanent Church home.

Tomorrow I will be attending church with two of my close friends, Jimmy and Michelle. I am praying that after time, me waking up early will lead to my husband waking up as well and joining me.

It's crazy how something that used to be so normal in one's life can become so different in so many ways.

Weekend Recap

Friday was my birthday! My husband was so sweet, and not to mention being an avid Facebooker, I must say I felt very loved from everyone who wished me Happy Birthday. It made my day!

I had to work Friday along with Saturday till 1, so pretty much our festivities only included dinner, in which I was so thankful. The hubby was so sweet, and took me to my favorite Hibachi Grill, Koi...(in which we are pretty regulars there).

We decided that my phone would be my Birthday present along with the Cruise come the end of August...which hey, that's fine by me. I am so excited about going...I can hardly wait!

This was the only picture I was able to snap and get out of my husband. He hate pictures...which, I honestly think he just put up with all my picture taking when we were dating, because we were dating.

I wish he wouldn't have blinked, because it would have been a great picture to frame!

Yesterday was my last day to work at that particular branch in Hendersonville. It was bitter sweet, because I will miss some of my co-workers. Some of them I didn't even get to say good bye to because either they were off on vacation, off that day, or left on Friday without getting to say good bye. The positive thing is I'm not leaving the company...just changing branches to be closer to home.

It feels kind of weird knowing I will be driving my 25 minute route in to Hendersonville...instead only 10 minutes up the road. I'm excited though.

Last night the hubs and I headed to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the UFC fight. I normally stay home when he goes there, because usually it's a guy thing and no wives go. But I decided what the hey, and go. It was fun, and the people watching was even more interesting than the fight. Funny side note: I had a customer get upset with me because I couldn't perform a transaction on his behalf because his account couldn't support the funds. He pretty much gave me a death stare, and I still cannot get over the look he gave me...he honestly creeped me out. Anyways. What do ya know, when the table right next to me that I stole the menu from...there he sat. I don't think he remembered me considering I wasn't dressed up and in bank attire. Note to public...be nice to your bankers. We're only do our job.

Today was nice. Our sweet friends, Michelle and Jimmy (he had to work and was unable to go) along with their little girl, Kylie headed to the pool with us. We had fun just lounging and talking. I always have such a good time with them. Wednesday we are doing dinner so I will be looking forward to that.

Well, off to do some laundry...hope everyone has a wonderful week!

In My Neck of the Woods.....

or should I say neighborhood?

It's been since Sunday since I blogged, and I really don't consider that a posting because it was a "questionnaire"...

So far, I have rewrote this posting about 3 times. Maybe sometime soon, I will get it to flow.

I'm starting my new work location on Monday, and I am so excited. Like I said in my previous post, it will be a fresh start, and much closer to my house. I'm looking forward to being part of a great team of people, and gaining new friendships.

Looks like the last week of August, the hubby and myself....along with my In-laws will be set sail out of New Orleans on a cruise to Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas....along with Key West, Florida. This is not set in stone, but about 95% definite. We found out today since we would be leaving and arriving back in to the states at the same port (New Orleans), a passport is not required. I cannot wait to go on this cruise. Since my husband is not a fan of pictures, (it's like pulling teeth to get him in front of the camera), that week I will have full reign over when and where...and what he will be included in a picture. No ifs, ands, butts about it.

This past Sunday the husband and I decided to start on a Low Carb Diet. Basically wiping out all pastas, breads, and certain veggies....but piling on the meat in take. I must say this has been very tough. I would much rather have a delicious, buttery roll than a piece of chocolate cake any day. Last night, the hubby broke down and told me he didn't think he could do this anymore. I was kind of relieved in several ways, because it made it very difficult in cooking and preparing meals, as with a lot of diets. With that being said, we have decided to not be as strict with it. Basically not eating as much carbs every day. We'll see how it works.

I finally got my beloved Blackberry back. It arrived on Tuesday, and I have been one happy girl. Using the back up phone was getting very old considering it would turn off every 5 minutes. I felt very disconnected from my family and friends because 1) they didn't have that number...2) I didn't know any one's numbers from where I took full advantage of just scrolling to the contact name...and 3) I just didn't feel like using it if it would turn off in the middle of conversation. But like I said, I am back in full mode, and if you need me...you know what number to call!

Well...I guess that's enough for my ramblings now. Friday, I will be 27. Time has flown by so fast...3 years I will be 30! I'm excited to see what this life has to bring!

Next Time I'll Just Stick to the Cleaning

I have been on one of those streaks lately...a stupidity streak as I will call it.

First it was the phone in the pool which has resulted in a very frustrating time of being without my Blackberry, and what could have been a very expensive loss had we not had insurance.

Then today, I got antsy and decided to get productive after lounging around the house. The hubs didn't want to get out on the town, so I resorted to doing some yard work in the flowerbeds before he started with the mowing.

We have this huge plant (and when I say huge, that is an understatement) that sits right on the corner of our front porch steps. I despise this plant so much that every time I walk by it, I imagine how much I want it gone.

It's known as a Hosta and that is how big it gets.

I decide to take on the project of trying to get rid of the darn thing...which should have been the end of it.

Instead I keep going, and take out the whole entire bush that is on the other side of the Hosta, and on the side of the left hand railing.

It looks so horrible, I actually starting crying a little. The hubby wasn't too happy with my sudden whacking of our shrub.

As of right now, I moved the flower pots of my Marigolds to try and take up some space, but that just draws even more attention to empty space. I'm thinking we may run and get a small tree or a shrub to replace it once we get the stub out.

Lesson learned...the hubs will continue with the yard, and I'll just stick to the cleaning.

Just Sayin'...

Right now I am actually tearing up watching "Cast Away".....when he loses his volleyball friend, Wilson. I can't get over how emotional I have been lately. Don't get me wrong, I have always been an emotional being I would say, but a volleyball? I guess it's just the movie itself. This man loses everything...his whole life, and is stranded on an island away from his reality...and makes what he can out of a volleyball. I couldn't imagine it, but I will say it makes me never wanna fly!

So, I am super excited to say I got the job transfer I interviewed for! I will be closer to home...(10 minutes away from our house)....working within a bigger and busier branch, and just honestly looking for a fresh start. I will miss some of my co-workers that I have formed friendships with, but I know that this is for the best.

This part of the movie always gets me. He finally stops by and sees Kelly after all this time. I cannot imagine.

The weather in our neck of the woods is not looking too friendly. It's thundering and lightening, making all sorts of racket. No wonder Kaci's acting crazy.

I love having Direct Tv (even though I only watch a handful of channels)...but I absolutely hate it when the weather gets crazy and you see Searching for signal across your Tv every 5 seconds. It's so aggravating!

I believe that the honey and I have found our Cruise that we are going to take. Just a few more ends to tie together and we are all set. I don't want to get myself too excited because if something doesn't work out...so I'm just going to hang tight.

Looks like my butt should be trying to get some shut eye! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

The Box Fan

....is something I can not seem to live without.

Now my hubby...that's another story. He hates it, and this has become a great debate in our household each night before bed.

This is identical to the one that sits on my night stand (yes...this huge fan sits on my night stand) right next to my head.

The reasons I give my husband to convince him my love for my box fan are:

  1. The sound puts me to sleep.
  2. The fan itself is perfect to carry around
  3. And apparently..a little white fluff ball loves it too!
